The Maverick Youth Team has been entered into the Mudfish Tournament this Saturday 8/1. Be there by 9:30 to watch the greatest rugby spectacle of all time, the Super Mudfish game, for over 250 lb players. Cheer Nate and Tyler's Dad on to victory. Watch them lumber, I mean speed, down the sidelines for glory. Our games start right after and we are scheduled for 3 games. We will be playing Plano and a combo side from Alliance. Bring out your buddies and make some phone calls to our regulars.

We had a full team and put out a great showing. With the exception of one player we were all under 16, with the majority being 15 and under. We were able to identify our weakness from the first game and work on those throughout the day, improving up to the final game. It was a fun tournament with lots of memories.

In attendance: Gabriel (who had a broken toe - could not play but came to support!), Lorenzo, Nick, John B., Tony, Daniel, James, Chris, Mike "Ginger".

They will have water, Gatorade and will provide lunch with cost being $5 per player but extra cash wouldn't be a bad idea especially for the Czech Stop on the way home. Also sunscreen and a chair wouldn't be a bad idea as well.

August 8 Dallas Mudfish

Only 2 tournaments left this summer for 7-a-Side rugby. The young men of Maverick Rugby made it out to the Plano Tournament where they made a great showing. Playing in the U19 Division with mostly 16 and 17 year olds they ended up playing against some High School alumni sides which included a couple of 20 year olds and some that looked like they were 35! They played great and with a lot of heart. James, Chris, Ben, Gabriel, Ginger (Mike), Kasey made it out picking up a few Alliance guys to fill in as subs. If memory serves, we lost 2 and tied the last game with a very strong finish against some definitely older experienced players. Maverick Youth Rugby should be very proud of their efforts.

Anyone interested in making the last 2 tournaments should

1) show up to practice Tuesdays and Thursdays at our game field a little after 7 PM

We have a few unconfirmed dates for Maverick Youth to participate in summer 7-a-side tournaments. If there is any interest we can put together a team. We (Men and HS) are running touch every Tuesday and Thursday from 7PM to Dark at our home pitch, Prairie Park. We are looking to get into a few Sevens Tournaments this Summer with the first one being June 6th in Dallas. So bring a friend and come on out for a run.

I have 6 committed so far and need another 4 or so. Would appreciate it if you let me (John Kurylas) know whether you are in or out. Need to know by Thursday preferably at practice where you can get in a run before Saturday.

We haven't entered any of the handful of Sevens tournaments this Summer and our last chance is DARC's Mudfish Tournament on August 2nd at Lake Highlands Park in Dallas who will be having a High School bracket.
