Mavericks Host Youth Tournament 5/14

The Mavericks are hosting a youth tournament and rugby clinic for all ages at our game pitch (map link on the menu to your right) Saturday 5/14. It looks like we may be having a cookout. Maverick HS guys not going to Houston are encouraged to come out and play some games or just help run the tournament.

Here's the ad from Life is Grand Summer Schedule from Grand Prairie's Parks and Rec Department.

There is the plan for this Saturday's friendly tournament in Grand Prairie. Please email John Kurylas ( to let him know if you are coming.

Also, if you have any girls please have them come at 1:30pm. We will have a short clinic and discuss creating a NTX Team to play in a TOLA tournament and the State Championship. The Woodlands will have a team for State.

Big Day April 30

As you can see from the earlier post, we have the our big volunteer event, 7:30AM, Saturday morning, April 30th. Everyone is required to show up and help out for the KaBOOM playground event, especially if you have not paid your dues! Free food and drinks, must be present to win.

Afterwards, we are scheduled to play Coppell in a game of 10s or possibly 7s. This is a demonstration event to recruit new players for the summer 7s series. Please bring out friends and family, to assist in the playground build and give rugby a shot. This is an unofficial, non-CIPP event and is not associated with TYRA in anyway, thus your dues will not have to be paid to participate.

This is a big community project and the club was asked by GP Parks and Rec to help so we need maximum participation and besides asking the Alumni we are requesting the High School kids as well to help as we want to blow the city's socks off with our commitment. I don't think we can stress enough how important this is for the community and club. Since most schools now require community service hours prior to graduation this is a perfect opportunity to meet that requirement as well as help out the community.

The goal is to complete the build in 6 hours. There will be music, activities for the kids and free breakfast and lunch. Need everyone to Register Online and text Mr. Kurylas (972-824-8818) when you have done so. There is also a Waiver that is required and can be filled out a head of time or the morning of the build. You must be at least 18 to work in the actual build enclosure but we still need the younger guys to help with the kid activities as the club is also holding little mini rugby clinics through out the day.

The build is taking place at the Soccer Fields across the street from Prairie Park. Check in is at 7:30AM and build starts at 8:00AM.
