Maverick 2011 Fall Practices

The Maverick Youth Team will practice with the Men's side at Mike Lewis Park in Grand Prairie. Practices run from 7:00 to 9:00PM every Tuesday and Thursday, weather permitting(GP Parks make the call on this). Please bring rugby jersey, rugby shorts and a mouthpiece as well as drinking water and bug spray.

The North Texas HS teams do not hold a Fall season, but there are a few Fall 7s tournaments held in the North Dallas area. Those who wish to participate in those tournaments should contact Mr. Kelly about details. The dates and locations should be on the Maverick schedule as soon as they become available.

In the mean time, all High School Ruggers are encouraged to practice with the men on Tuesdays and Thursdays to improve skills and talent levels. Personal coaching for new players will be available.

When the Welsh Ruled World Rugby

Brian Lloyd, is one of, if not he best coach the Maverick men have ever had. Being the fine Welshman he is, he has shared some of the absolute best rugby footage of all time. Watch this incredible team work and amazing tries by the Welsh international team from the 1970's. Yes, the 70's.

Rattlers Trip to Austin CANCELED!

LATE BREAKING NEWS!
The North Texas Rattlers trip to Austin has been canceled this weekend, May 7.

The head coach sent out the announcement Friday afternoon. This is extremely disappointing news for those players who were invited and had planned on going. Low numbers at Wednesday's practice and low commitment numbers for the weekend, along with Mothers Day, etc., forced this difficult decision.

Those players who committed themselves to this weekend should be recognized. They are Chris Merimon, Christopher Kelly and Lorenzon Marconi. Be assured that none are more disapointed than these three. Other Mavericks were invited to attend the practice and tournament but could not fulfill the commitment.

The next All Star related event is the Texas Camp to be held at Sam Houston State University. See the schedule for dates, etc.

Any event changes will be posted here. Stay tuned!

All Rattlers teams – U-19, U-17 and U-15 will be playing in Austin this Saturday 5/7!.

May 7th – Rattlers vs. Stormer's & Cyclones - U19 & 17 & 15 – Burr Field - Austin

Big Day April 30

As you can see from the earlier post, we have the our big volunteer event, 7:30AM, Saturday morning, April 30th. Everyone is required to show up and help out for the KaBOOM playground event, especially if you have not paid your dues! Free food and drinks, must be present to win.

Afterwards, we are scheduled to play Coppell in a game of 10s or possibly 7s. This is a demonstration event to recruit new players for the summer 7s series. Please bring out friends and family, to assist in the playground build and give rugby a shot. This is an unofficial, non-CIPP event and is not associated with TYRA in anyway, thus your dues will not have to be paid to participate.
